Last week they went to the moon and built a house made of nachos. Because the moon is made of cheese. Nacho cheese. My son, ladies and gentlemen. I'm keeping these books because either he's going to turn out to be a genius or insane and either way I want to be prepared for either the reporters or the psychiatrist. - Great idea. This particular book is printed with extremely cheap, thin paper—therefor transparent. Drawings will show thru to the other side of the page. This makes this product absolutely useless.
- Pros It was cheap (but not THAT cheap).
Cons It IS cheap. This is nothing more than 130 thin pages--too thin, for instance, to possibly draw in pencil, let alone ink or any other medium, and not have it bleed through onto its back page, which is ALSO supposed to be a workable surface. The layout of panels you see on the cover is it. EACH page of the book is the exact same panel layout you see on the cover. No variety. As a nod to how cheaply and poorly conceived this was, the top "first" panel shows a hastily but still visible "erased" panel line--so you start off each page with the largest panel on the page marred. The "cover" is also extremely think black print paper that will not hold up for long (and seems to be impervious to holding marker or ink, so you can forget decorating or illustrating your "book's" cover.
I can see maybe giving this book to a small child who wants to practice funny books. Useless to anyone above the age of 5. - My kid got this for his birthday. He filled it up. - Pros I absolutely love this product. It was a gift and I have been using it for the last week. It was designed in the USA! The paper is not too thick or thin,cost is reasonable and I like that it has a standard template because it has helps me get ideas down really quick. They have other notebook templates available on their website that I might get in the future but with 130 pages I am good for a while. In addition to comic ideas I have been using it as a creative visualization tool.
Cons Wish I had this when I was in high school. - Really perfect for my son who draws comics. It gives him the perfect template. I sort of wish they had different sized cells on each page (all the pages are uniform) but it's still given him a perfect outlet to feel professional when drawing his comics.
- My 11 year old loved this! The cover is a beautiful material and the pages are thicker-quality journal paper. The inside pages only include the grid you see on the cover - no illustrations. If you like drawing prompts this might not be for you, but it provides a wonderful base to imagine your own super hero stories!
- This notebook has been a big hit with my twelve year old budding author. The blocks of space are large enough for text and some small pictures and the paper is good quality. My only complaint really is that the block layout is exactly the same on every page. I think it would have been fun to have had a variation of layouts with blocks in different sizes and shapes. This is a small criticism though for what a great product it is.
- Wow, these are so perfect! My 5 and 7 year old absolutely love them, especially my 7 year old, who draws all of the time. The books are very well made and the covers feel good to the touch. The pages are just the right size and the price is unbeatable. Thanks!
Quick note the pages ARE double sided, so you can slightly see the borders on the backside of the page through the one you are working on. It’s not an issue for us but might be for some people.
