Fact 752 - Karma was a vindictive wench, and Luck, no lady.

Allie never believed in Karma, but after the week she'd had, she was prone to believe that if such an entity existed, it had to be a woman. Only a woman could hold such an ugly, nasty grudge, and make Allie's life so impossibly miserable. If spying for the enemy and a broken heart wasn't enough, someone had even stolen her favorite heels. Classy, right? Bad luck strikes again.

Fact 689 - Southern girls were supposed to be graceful losers.

Spying for Sloven wasn't the plan, but every attempt she made to escape his clutches only entrenched her deeper into a war Allie never wanted to be part of. Good thing her mama taught her how to fight dirty. Allie would play his game, and do the one thing he didn't think possible. She'd win.

Fact 521 - Never play a player, or in this case, a southern belle.

It was just one compromise...

"This one had betrayal and some nice romantic development and slovenly really upped the creep factor! It is so good. I am really sad that there is only one more serial to this series. As always it is short and the writing is so good it leaves me craving more! The cliffhanger in this one is BRUTAL . Like I yelled at my kindle, brutal. Cant wait for the next one!!"

Onyx Elixir Mixologists and Pirates Book 5 eBook Frost Kay Reviews

  • I feel like each book just gets a little better, and keeps you hooked so you don't mind the huge cliffhanger ending! This book was no exception, and I am looking forward to our heroine getting some R&R. It has been one wild ride for her.

I found this series by chance and am so glad I did. It is sassy, has charm, a strong sense of friendship and family, and has humor to help lighten the dark.

Each book builds nicely upon the last, and slowly on this new world that has been introduced, so it's not information overload. It is a quick read which is real nice if you have limited time, but is wholly engaging.

I have laughed out loud, cried and yelled. I highly recommend this book and am (im)patiently awaiting the next installment.
  • Overall rating 4.7

So the twists just keep coming and this series totally needs a warning label for suspenseful abuse overload! This main character can’t ever catch a break...ever...at all...nada! She may or may not have an ally in Blade, who may or may not possibly help alleviate apparently insurmountable odds. I am officially hooked into this series though, so I have to google cliffhangers anonymous. The pain is sweet fellow readers so be warned! Make sure you don’t read this series next to anything breakable or irreplaceable, you may feel like throwing something when you reach the end. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
  • This book ended on quite the cliffhanger! My heart is beating frantically as my imagination goes wild....basically another awesome book in the series!!! There's a lot of moving forward for Allie in some ways while the plot thickens. I won't go into it as I don't want to give anything away but I have to admit that I'm waiting on the next book like an addict waiting for their next hit.
  • I had a hard time getting into this one. I felt like something was missing from the beginning. Like a detail was missing between the two books. Maybe I should have done a reread before starting this one.

Again it felt like a novella in length. Depending on the price of the next one I may now continue the series. Or I may wait to see if it's ever published as a complete work when it's done. It is a great series, but the length is just not long enough.
  • I was hooked on this series after reading the first "book". And each time a new book came out I started from the first one and read until I caught up. I just finished reading number 5, reading from number 1 again, and not once was I bored. I love the characters and their world, hate the bad guy, and can't wait until number 6 arrives and I can do it all over again. This is definitely a must read series---Thank you, Frost Kay!!!!

  • I love this newest installment in the Mixologists and Pirates series! The twists and turns kept me on my toes and I love how things are finally starting to develop with Blade. Allie is an amazingly strong character who has been through so much, but she keeps getting stronger throughout everything. I look forward to the next installment.
  • This series is full of twists and turns and surprises and excitement. Allie's interactions with Jer crack me up, and I love how her friendship/relationship with Blade keeps growing. I am TRULY looking forward to the next book!
